On December 23, 2011, deputies and officers from the San Diego County Avoid 14 Task Force conducted a DUI/ Driver License checkpoint at Espola Road and Valle Verde, in the city of Poway.
Approximately 1069 vehicles passed through the checkpoint; Eight (8) field sobriety evaluations were conducted on drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. One (1) arrest was made for a minor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; One (1) arrest was made for possession of a controlled substance, One (1) arrest was made for possession of marijuana; Two (2) arrests were made for driving on a suspended driver license while suspended for a DUI conviction; Four (4) citations were issued for driving on a suspended license, and five (5) vehicles were towed/stored.
Additionally, DUI saturation patrols were conducted in conjunction with the main Checkpoint Operation. Four (4) people were arrested for driving while impaired or intoxicated, and four (4) vehicles were towed/stored. One of the arrestees was also charged with driving while on probation with a prior conviction of driving under the influence.
