If you’re arrested for a DUI, it’s kind of a natural reaction to want your police report to see what they say. In most cases, you may want to know what your BAC was, what the report actually says and if there are any witness statements. Ultimately, you want to determine if you want to fight the case or plead guilty. What many people will do is go to the police station and try to get the report copy right away, but it isn’t quite that easy. Aside from wondering what the report says, you have to think about the DMV and the 10 day period you have to contest the suspension of your license otherwise your license will be automatically suspended.
In the short video, we showed at the police station, you can hear the woman at the counter says it takes approximately 14 days to get this report and this is well over the 10 day period you have for the DMV hearing. Apart from the time frame, you WILL NOT get a full police report. It’s important to note that you won’t get the videos from the arrest or any other protected information like witness statement. We are here to tell you that you have a defense that can be leveraged on your behalf in most cases, that’s what we do for you here at San Diego Defenders.
